Hi! I thought I’d just apologize for my inactivity over the past week.
School has been super busy and then this weekend was my sisters birthday.
Anyways! I shall be responding shortly.
“I told you sooooooooooo!” Wendy singsonged as she finally found Jacob in the kitchen. Which was strange, considering that despite the size of the house, they only lived out of a couple rooms. “Tell me!” The blonde said excitedly, nearly…
“She was candid about it because obviously she’s not the only one. This place is full of spirits! I just know it.” she grinned, pleased with being right. She thought about this girl named Evie - wondered why she was here and who else was. “I’ve been having nightmares.” Wendy said softly, watching him boil water. The girl had always sworn she was sensitive of things like auras and ghosts, but she had also always been a very avid dreamer. Her dreams very vivid, and always indicated something to do with her life. Nightmares weren’t a good sign. “You just need to open your third eye, Jake.” She murmured softly, in the voice that she often used in an attempt to comfort him. “Quit being so gray.” She added quietly, thinking of how his normal deep red color (one of the things she had always liked about him) had changed to a muddied gray that signaled he was being guarded. Jacob shot her a familiar look like ‘quit with the New Age shit’ and the blond just gave him a small smile in return. “I met one too, a ghost.”
Jacob scoffed at Wendy’s gray comment, she was always telling him to stop being one colour and try being another. Whatever that was supposed to mean, Jacob had no clue. “So you’ve got some of your best mates living in a haunted house for…what exactly? Science? Cause no offence or anything Wendy, I mean you know I love you, but this seems like the plot of a B horror film with corn syrup blood.” He pointed out, pouring the boiling water from the kettle into two separate mugs.
“Oo, sorry about that, that wasn’t supposed to happen…” Evie felt a little bad about scaring him, but now that they were in this position, she supposed she should introduce herself. She never really talked with anyone (especially the living) and she was a little rusty.
“You’re probably a little shocked… I can tell that you weren’t expecting to see someone materialize out of thin air. I suppose that’s what it must have looked like. Well, uhm, it’s a pleasure to meet you…?” Evie stared at him as he made no movement.Jacob blinked at the girl, his mouth gaping open as she continued to speak to him as though a finding a ghost in the house you were essentially squatting in with your friends was something that happened every day. Except Jacob knew it wasn’t normal- and he knew nothing good would come from co-existing with a bunch of dead people. But he was also sceptical- perhaps his eyes had just played tricks on him. Maybe the freckle skinned girl standing in front of him was just hanging out in the house like he and his friends were.
“What the hell are you doing here?” He asked, his voice coming off a lot harsher than he may have intended it to.
The smile faded from her face and she looked away.
“I wish that I knew,” she sighed. She felt the atmosphere shift momentarily and smiled a melancholy smile. Evie hadn’t wanted to change the tone so dramatically. She was morbidly uncomfortable as she felt that he could read all of her emotions written on her face and she certainly wasn’t used to that.
“Well I could ask you the same thing,” she retorted, regaining her previous composure. “I mean, I’ve been here over fifteen years, so I’d say that I’m the one who pulls rank and gets to ask the question.” She tried to feign an air of superiority that she knew he would probably end up laughing at anyway.
Jacob was blown away by Evie’s candidness on the whole ghost situation, he tried to hide the surprise from his face but was unsuccessful and instead just managed to choke on his own phlegm and look scared. “You’ve been dead for fifteen years?” He asked, trying to move past the girl who was now blocking his entrance into the bathroom where he had been heading initially.
“I told you sooooooooooo!” Wendy singsonged as she finally found Jacob in the kitchen. Which was strange, considering that despite the size of the house, they only lived out of a couple rooms. “Tell me!” The blonde said excitedly, nearly bouncing up and down. Despite the…
Wendy’s eyes widened as Jacob spoke, her jaw nearly dropping. “I knew it! Tell me everything!” She exclaimed excitedly. “And you said I was losing it.” The girl mumbled with amusement, shaking her head. She knew that he still had a thing for her, but Wendy still couldn’t figure out why, and maybe if she allowed herself she would be able to develop feelings for him. But now was not the time, not here in this haunted house when they were both supposed to be in collage moving on with their lives.
Jacob glared at Wendy for a moment, having a hard time comprehending her reaction to the situation. “I only said that because I mean…COME ON! This isn’t normal! Why am I seeing a girl whose been dead over 15 years roaming the hallways of the allegedly unoccupied house we’re illegally occupying?” He asked, his voice cracking up towards the end as it often did when he felt nervous. “I saw a girl this morning- she was so candid about the whole thing. Like this shit happens all the time. She told me her name is Evie.” Jacob explained, getting up to boil water for tea. It was lucky that the house had electricity and running water but now Jacob was doubting whether it was a coincidence or something far more sinister.
“I told you sooooooooooo!” Wendy singsonged as she finally found Jacob in the kitchen. Which was strange, considering that despite the size of the house, they only lived out of a couple rooms. “Tell me!” The blonde said excitedly, nearly bouncing up and down. Despite the disagreement from everyone except for maybe Andy, Wendy was convinced that the strange house was swimming with ghosts. She only hoped Jacob wasn’t messing with her. That’d be a bummer.
Jacob took a seat across from the blonde girl he had pined over for many a year in a high school. It was weird for him to think about how they had become friends after all the emotional turmoil she had caused him. Perhaps it had just been Jacob willing to settle, but when the opportunity for a friendship between him and Wendy presented itself he jumped at it with such a ferocity that they became rather close in a short period of time. She had been the reason Jacob agreed to take the year off before going to Stanford, she was the reason he was currently inhabiting a haunted house. He’d have done anything for her, and her excitement over the ghost brought him great joy.
“I saw something this morning- when you guys were all still asleep. A girl, a ghost.” He smiled at Wendy whose eyes widened as he spoke.
“Oo, sorry about that, that wasn’t supposed to happen…” Evie felt a little bad about scaring him, but now that they were in this position, she supposed she should introduce herself. She never really talked with anyone (especially the living) and she was a little rusty.

Evie slowly came out of the fog, her eyes fluttering. She wasn’t sure how long she’d been gone this time, but she could hear footsteps rounding the corner, which was odd as she could almost never hear the footsteps of the ‘residents’. The last time she heard footsteps was the last time this house had a living person inside of it.
Jacob had spent the night watching his friend Wendy sleep; having not been able to sleep himself in the old creepy house his friends had convinced him to run away to. So far, the adventure as Wendy liked to call it, had be a complete disaster. Almost resulting in the death of two of their friends after falling through a step in the basement. He honestly didn’t know what made him say yes to this idiotic idea, but he did know that he needed to take a shower. Climbing the stairs, he made his way to the master bathroom. Having not been expecting to see anyone on his short trip to the bathroom Jacob had begun undressing in the hallway and was in the midst of unbutton his jeans when he saw something out of the corner of his eye that caused him to walk straight into an old vase.
Evie could see the look on his face when he saw her. Well he’s alive, Evie thought. And he also probably didn’t know that she was dead, hence the look of shock at seeing an unfamiliar face. She sighed deeply, knowing that it made no real noise because she hadn’t wanted it to.
Here we go again. The vase fell to the floor but failed to shatter, instead falling directly onto Jacob’s foot and causing the boy to howl out in pain. “Fucking balls!” He cried out grabbing his toe and practically falling into the figure he had seen before.
Evie rolled her eyes and laughed breathlessly. Graceful she thought.
She peeked her head around the corner to get a better look at him, knowing that while he was preoccupied with his foot was her only real chance.
She usually stayed out of the livings way when they were here, because she didn’t really care about them, just like she didn’t really care about the other residents of the house.
His hair fell around his face as he hopped around on one foot and Evie laughed again, only this time, she didn’t hide it.
A girlish giggle rang through the hallways causing the tiny hairs on Jacobs neck to stand erect. Looking around, he didn’t actually see anything. Wendy had told him this house was haunted before, but Jacob was one of those sceptics that didn’t believe in children’s ghost stories. For Jacob, there always had to be a logical explanation. That was of course until, a female of about sixteen literally appeared right in front of his eyes.
Considering what?
Considering this place is more paranormal than…some place that’s really paranormal?
I think I might have seen something today…
You did?! TELL ME TELL ME TELL ME.
Find me and MAYBE I will.
